It’s a pleasure to meet you here. I’m Jennifer Evans, owner and founder of The Evans Group (TEG). At TEG, we never stop brainstorming ways to engage, educate and enlighten emerging and established clothing designers alike (wow, that was a lot of “e” words!). Anyway, you might say it’s a bit of a passion of ours, and was really the catalyst for our new blog series.

For those of you that don’t know me, allow me to tell you a bit about myself. I began my fashion industry career working in a small couture house, while studying business in San Francisco.  While I was there, I was assigned to New York City to lead the acquisition of couture and tailoring cut-and-sew facilities for the brand.

I’m not gonna lie, finding myself immersed in the NYC fashion industry at that young age was an intense experience. But during those years, I learned the unique process of creating high-end apparel for an independent designer and the needs of the factory workers alike. I learned more in that time than I could’ve ever learned in a classroom

One of the most important things I learned is that no one – not even the most talented of designers – can navigate the fashion industry alone. Everyone needs advice, encouragement and a little insider knowledge. The TEG blog is designed to give you exactly that. We’ll be covering a myriad of topics, from development, cut-and-sew, and sourcing materials to a few simple practices that can help you keep your sanity in this crazy business we all love.
